NEW CLASSICAL – WILD UP

April 11, 2022

New Classical Featured Ensemble – 04/11/22 – 04/24/22

In this week’s playlist, we are featuring performances by the Los Angeles contemporary music ensemble, WILD UP. They are led by artistic director and founder, Christopher Rountree. WILD UP is a modern music collective – a group of Los Angeles-based musicians committed to creating visceral, thought-provoking happenings. Their programs are eclectic studies of people, places, and ideas that they find interesting. The group believes that music is a catalyst for shared experiences and that the concert venue is a place for challenging, exciting, and igniting the community around them.

This GRAMMY-nominated ensemble has worked with numerous artists since first forming in 2010. They have held residencies at the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Colburn School, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, National Sawdust, and the Hammer Museum, and taught at dozens of educational institutions across the U.S.

Connect with Classical Music Indy’s New Classical channel to hear performances by this fantastic group that blurs the borders between classical music, rock, and performance art.

Antidotes for Performance Anxiety, Part 1: Awareness

Performance anxiety is an issue for numerous musicians, from beginner to veteran. In this first article, Dr. George explains the signs and root causes of this issue, and how engaging in a conversation of the topic may help teachers reach their struggling pupils.
