NEW CLASSICAL – NOW HEAR THIS

April 8, 2024

New Classical Featured Playlist

In this playlist (originally shared in the last week of April, 2023) we feature the violinist and conductor Scott Yoo, Host and Executive Producer of Now Hear This! Now Hear This brings the greatest music ever written to millions of viewers, with modern storytelling that captivates. It opens the world of classical music to new audiences while giving existing fans new ways to love their music. The program is presented by Great Performances, which celebrated its 50th season on PBS in 2023, and is now distributed internationally. It was created by Emmy-winning producer/director/writer Harry Lynch. With a deep background in music and on-location filmmaking, he combines storytelling, travel, and spectacular music performances to create a new, highly accessible format.

We caught up with Scott during the fourth season, as he traveled around the world learning about composers Astor Piazzolla, Robert Schumann, Andy Akiho, and ending with Isaac Albéniz. Scott is the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Mexico City Philharmonic and the Music Director of Festival Mozaic. He is the Conductor of the Colorado College Music Festival, and the founder of the Medellín Festicámara, a chamber music program that brings together world-class artists with underprivileged young musicians. We’ll hear Scott talk with host Salvador about the 4th season, the music, composers, and Scott’s career all when you connect to Classical Music Indy Streaming’s New Classical channel.
