New Classical – Joseph Horovitz

December 9, 2019

Featured Artist 12/9/19 – 12/15/19.

This week on CMI Streaming’s New Classical Channel, we feature a couple of pieces by English composer and conductor Joseph Horovitz. Born in Austria in 1926, Horovitz family fled to England in 1938 to escape the Nazis. After studying music and modern languages at New College, Oxford, Horovitz attended the Royal College of Music in London, studying composition. He then studied for a year with the iconic French composition teacher Nadia Boulanger in Paris and, since 1961, Horovitz has served as a professor of composition at the Royal College of Music.
