Spring is officially here! The idea of new life and the end to winter have long inspired compositions. The first segment of this week’s stream features works about spring from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Tune in for music by Rachel Portman, Xiagu Zhu, Sir Arnold Bax, Nkeiru Okoye, and many more.
As the weather warms up it’s a great time to get out and enjoy nature in all its glory! Akin to spring, the last two segments focus on compositions from aspects of nature: birds, trees, earth, and the like. The playlist includes “Bird Song” by Vivian Fung, “City Trees” by Michael Markowski, Stacy Garrop’s thrilling 2015 Oratorio Terra Nostra and a brand new set of piano sonatas by Edward Cowie inspired by different types of rock. Enjoy this wonderful music inspired by spring and nature from the comfort of your home or take it with you as you get out and experience the outdoors.
