In honor of the 97th Academy Awards taking place on March 2nd, this week’s playlist features all film music. The first section goes through selections from some classic film scores including Casablanca (1942), Jurassic Park (1993), Vertigo (1958), Forrest Gump (1994), Rocky (1976), and some notable newer scores including How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014), and Interstellar (2014).
The second segment considers film scores by famous classical composers such as Aaron Copland and Dmitri Shostakovich and looks at some classical music that has been used in films.
Finally, the third segment examines previous best score winners from 1938 to 2001. Some highlights include selections from the 1938 Adventures of Robin Hood, Mary Poppins (1964), Star Wars (1977), The Lion King (1994), and Lord of the RIngs: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001).
