Violinist, Teaching Artist
Violinist Tricia Bonner is a vivacious performer in the Indianapolis area, as an apt representative of classical and new art music. She enjoys a kaleidoscope of a career, frequently performing with colleagues in recital and for special events with Classical Music Indy, the DEOC Ensemble, and her own violin/piano duo Ascending, co-founded in 2014 with pianist, Caitlin (Foster) Frasure. Also reveling in the orchestral experience, Tricia currently serves in a half dozen regional symphony orchestras alongside her violinist-husband, Reid Bonner. With a special affection for interdisciplinary productions, she has played many of the major ballets of the repertoire with the Indianapolis Ballet Orchestra and the Butler Ballet Orchestra, where she has served as concertmaster on and off over the last decade. Traditional Irish music plays a unique part of her diverse career as Tricia fiddles with the award-winning Indianapolis Ceili Band, which performed in the 2016 international ‘Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann’ in Ennis, Ireland. Aside from performance, she shares her love of music off-stage with a diverse range of private violin students through the Butler Community Arts School, Quattro String Academy, and Apogee School for the Gifted, while coaching several junior and high school orchestra programs in the area. Under the guidance of Butler University’s Artist-in-Residence, Larry Shapiro, Tricia earned a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance through the Jordan College of the Arts’ School of Music, and continues to be an active contributor to this musical community. In every performance opportunity and teaching moment, Tricia actively seeks to deliver truth, and enrich others’ lives by sharing her genuine joy for music.
