Local Classical Featured Playlist – 06/26/26 – 07/09/23
In this week’s playlist, we feature performances by the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra with the help of guest curator, Matthew Kraemer. He is the Music Director and Principal conductor with the ICO. The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra advances and promotes music composed for the small orchestra through professional concert performances and education programs. They are committed to increasing inclusion, diversity, equity and access in all aspects of the organization and strive to be a leader among non-profit performing arts organizations.
Recognized for his “musical sensitivity” and “energized sense of interpretation”, Matthew Kraemer is quickly making his mark among young American conductors for his inspired performances and versatility. The Buffalo News notes, “He presents a tall, dignified and stately podium presence with a quite clear beat, a good sense of shaping melodic lines, and an all business attitude that focused on the music without any histrionics.” Kraemer was recently announced as the next Music Director of the Louisiana Philharmonic beginning July, 2023. Formed in 1991, the LPO is the oldest full-time musician-governed orchestra in the United States. Appointed Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra in 2015, he has additionally extended his commitment with the ICO through 2027. He will conclude his tenures with the Butler County Symphony (PA) and Orchestra Indiana this spring.
We’ll hear Matthew talk with host Salvador all about the ICO’s history and the upcoming season. You’ll also hear some of Matthews’s favorite pieces he selected for the playlist. All this and more when you connect to Classical Music Indy Streaming’s Local Classical channel.
