Local Classical Featured Playlist – 07/24/23 – 08/06/23
In this week’s playlist, we share the recordings of our last Micro Composition Project. This project was created to produce engaging new works that disrupt the traditional classical music listening experience. Our 2022 composers were Caroline Ahn, with “Earth Song”; Jorge Muñiz, with “Niké”; Eric Salazar, with “Cornfields”; and Jared Thompson, with “Incomplete Thought”. These composers were selected to create short works of five minutes or less and they were premiered by The Indianapolis-based group Forward Motion.
Four new compositions have been commissioned for the 2023 Micro Composition Project, so stay tuned for concert updates! This concert will allow Indianapolis residents to expand preconceived notions of the classical music genre through expert interpretation and performance of these new works.
