The CMI Artist Lab is a new initiative by Classical Music Indy that will strategically invest in new musical works and professional development to grow the local music economy while serving as a catalyst to draw national attention and larger audiences from across the U.S. New works will be created and then recorded for national distribution, reaching a much larger audience of 20.5 million weekly listeners who tune in to U.S. public radio music platforms.
The CMI Artist Lab will produce the following activities:
- Award a major commission of $25,000 for a chamber orchestra work of 16 performers;
- Record and distribute the work on national platforms; and,
- Leverage a local network of key resources such as recording studios and sound engineers.
This application is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is based in the U.S. or its territories. The deadline to apply is Friday, December 16th.
