Local Classical Featured Playlist – 08/23/21 – 09/05/21
Classical Music Indy Streaming is made possible in part by The Penrod Society, who annually organizes the Penrod Arts Fair, also known as “Indiana’s Nicest Day.” One of the largest single-day arts fairs in the country, The Penrod Arts Fair is taking place at Newfields on Saturday, September 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year’s fair will feature over three hundred artists, six entertainment stages, and 75 arts-related non-profit organizations, including Classical Music Indy, all taking place at Newfields. In 1967 a group of twenty-two men formed The Penrod Society. The volunteer organization was designed to support the cultural and educational activities of Indianapolis-area artists, students, and arts organizations. “Penrod” pays homage to Penrod Schoefield, a literary character from Indianapolis novelist Booth Tarkington. In this week’s playlist, we’ll be bringing you a playlist centered on literary themes, works, and characters. Tickets and more information about The Penrod Arts Fair are available at penrod.org.
