In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King day on Monday, January 20, this week’s playlist features works inspired by MLK and the Civil Rights movement in the United States. We’ll hear works by Margaret Bonds, Duke Ellington, Leonardo Balada and others who were influenced by King and his pivotal work in the Civil Rights movement in the United States.
The second half of our stream presents music by living composers as well as some composers celebrating birthdays this month including Philip Glass, Eric Whitacre, Ingrid Stölzel, and many more.
