Giving Tuesday: Click, Listen, and Ignite Local Talent
While Classical Music Indy has its roots in classical music radio, more recently it has also become a hub for local, independent classical musicians who perform live for its community outreach programs. These professional players create a total performance roster of 35 artists, featuring soloists, ensembles, and a variety of other formats to diversify Classical Music Indy’s growing community outreach programs. These artists represent a wide array of incredible instrumental and vocal talent, as well as diverse backgrounds in academic and professional experiences.
#RandomActsofMusic are spontaneous pop up performances anytime, anywhere. Whether it’s on Monument Circle, Lockerbie Plaza, St. Vincent Stress Center, Virginia Avenue Music Festival, or a major convention like Gen Con, these performances create a new contemporary culture of classical music that is always free to the audiences it serves. Like other forms of public art, #RandomActsofMusic beautify spaces and places with the sounds of classical music.
However, unlike visual art, music is temporal; one can only experience it in time. Once the artist stops playing, the experience ends. That’s why Classical Music Indy performs over 75 #RandomActsofMusic per year, serving over 100,000 people in our community. But #RandomActsofMusic does even more – it stimulates the local music economy by supporting the 35 local artists whose talent beautifies public spaces to create a vibrant arts ecosystem for Central Indiana.
